At the next DFM Community Engagement Program Monthly Meeting (DFM-CEP-MM), we will be getting an update from the Aurora Wellness Community Health Center.

The Aurora Wellness Community is a non-profit organization created to improve the health, wealth and well-being of the Aurora community, with specific focus on the zip codes 80010, 80011, and 80012. Aurora Wellness Community has named 5 pillars as priorities within the community.  These include healthcare, food access and security, community building, housing, and generational care.

As part of the healthcare pillar, AWCHC attempts to provide high quality, patient focused, medical care while also addressing some of the social determinants of health faced by our patients.  We are partnered with Colorado University School of Medicine and UCHealth in order to improve services. Today’s talk will be a brief journey of what we've accomplished over the past year and where we hope to go from here.

Our guest presenter:

Kelet Robinson, MD (she/her/hers) AWC Health Center, Medical Director

Dr. Robinson is the inaugural medical director of the Aurora Wellness Community Health Center.  She completed medical school at Louisiana State University in New Orleans and completed a Family Medicine residency at University of Arizona in Tucson. In addition to being board certified in family medicine, she is also certified in Lifestyle Medicine, Obesity Medicine, and Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. After finishing residency, Dr. Robinson moved to Colorado to complete her National Health Service Corp commitment. She has been working in the state of Colorado ever since.

The DFM-CEP-MM features presenters from community organizations, partners, and colleagues in DFM and across the Campus who work in areas of community engagement, health equity, and the social, structural and political determinates of health. Everyone is welcome.
