Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the key innovations driving modern transplantation at the University of Colorado, including robotic-assisted transplantation, normothermic regional perfusion (NRP), and machine perfusion–based allograft resuscitation, and their impact on transplant volume, utilization, and outcomes. 
  • Evaluate emerging models to improve organ utilization and donor management, including centralized donor care units and advanced perfusion platforms, with a focus on operational efficiency, viability assessment, and value-based transplantation. 
  • Discuss the strategic integration of perfusion science, translational therapeutics, and outcomes research as a framework to expand transplant access, improve graft function, and shape future policy and workforce development in transplantation.
