Learning Objectives:

• Upon completion, participants will be able to describe the natural history of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) from the initiation of pre-clinical disease in at-risk individuals through to the development of clinically apparent arthritis.
• Upon completion, participants will be able to describe the postulated roles of the mucosal immune system and the microbiome in the initial development of antibodies to citrullinated protein/peptide antigens (ACPA) in preclinical RA.
• Upon completion, participants will be able to devise mechanism-based strategies for disease prevention in individuals who are at high risk for the future development of RA.
