Learning Objectives:

  • To demonstrate the multidisciplinary nature of public health in the US

  • To provide underlying complexities related to public health decisions during my tenure at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

  • To introduce the audience to lesser known, critically important, activities of the CDC

  • To entice the audience to the very challenging arena of public service

  • To convey some leadership lessons learned during my CDC tenure
