Kristyn Masters is Chair of Bioengineering at CU-Denver and Director of the Center for Bioengineering at CU-Anschutz Medical Center. She moved to CU after 19 years as faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she was a Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor and Vice Chair in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. She earned her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan, her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Rice University, and performed her post-doctoral work at CU-Boulder. In the Masters Lab, researchers combine engineering tools with biological knowledge to create in vitro models of disease, with a specific focus on cardiovascular dysfunction and cancer. She has been elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), as well as the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES). In addition to her research activities, Dr. Masters has received numerous teaching awards and has leadership roles in teaching and mentoring programs.
