This presentation by Kathryn Hassell, MD, will provide a summary of the basic mechanisms of pathology in sickle cell disease and its modification. Participants will also develop an understanding of the potential role of gene therapy in the context of newer treatments for the disease and relate any underlying principles of current approaches to gene therapy.
