Alessandra Brambati is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, where she started her independent laboratory in December 2024. Her research focuses on the mechanisms of DNA double-strand break repair and their relevance to cancer biology. Her lab investigates two complementary pathways: microhomology-mediated end joining (MMEJ) during mitosis in cancer cells, and RNA-templated DNA double-strand break repair (RT-DSBR), a pathway she co-discovered during her postdoctoral training with Agnel Sfeir at NYU and MSKCC.
