The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is excited to have Dr. Ian Lewis share his work. Here is a brief bio on Dr. Lewis.

Dr. Ian Lewis is an Associate Professor and UCalgary Research Excellence Chair in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Calgary. The Lewis laboratory specializes in unraveling the complex molecular underpinnings of infectious diseases using metabolomics, proteomics, and genomic sequencing approaches. Dr. Lewis' program translates these primary research findings into real-world disgnostic tools that help improve outcomes from infections. To enable this objective, Dr. Lewis founded the Alberta Centre for Advanced Diagnostics. A translantional research center that works closely with Alberta's consolidated diagnostic service provider, Alberta Precision Laboratories, to deploy state-of-the-art diagnostic technologies in Canadian reference laboratories. Dr. Lewis also founded the Calgary Metabolomics Research Facility, the Canadian national reference core lab for microbiome metabolomics, and serves as the Vice President of the Metabolomics Association of North America (MANA).
